HUF 30 million for events showcasing best innovation practices

The Hungarian Innovation Agency (NIÜ) will provide HUF 30 million in 2024 to support the creation of national innovation events. The Agency's key mission is to deepen innovation knowledge and to make the ecosystem more dynamic by organising various national and international events, supported by the Event Support Programme for actors in the domestic innovation ecosystem.

The Hungarian Innovation Agency also considers it an important task to strengthen the innovation and start-up ecosystem through events. Therefore, as in the past, it will continue to support events with these objectives and will launch a call for proposals from the second half of 2024, open to all stakeholders, to contribute to the success of the ecosystem.

Non-repayable grants of up to HUF 30 million will be available, with a minimum of HUF 1 million and a maximum of HUF 5 million per application. The post-funding grant application will be used to cover the fees of foreign speakers, venue rental, equipment, sound, etc.

The competition is open to businesses; non-profit organisations; bodies operating on a budgetary or budgetary basis; and non-profit-making companies. Applications will be evaluated by a jury of experts, most of whom are independent of the ERC, and the decision to award the grant will be taken by the ERC Director-General on the basis of their recommendations. The evaluation will focus on the relevance of the concept of the event, its professionalism and its international links.

"Events, meetups, workshops and conferences are an important element of any well-functioning startup and innovation ecosystem. For us, it is a priority to give as many ecosystem players, startups and innovative small businesses as possible the opportunity to present themselves. High quality events allow participants to get to know each other, initiate cooperation, start problem solving and learn from international and national best practices. It is important that the events show through the lens of an ecosystem group what are the points of connection or discussion with other actors", said László Korányi, Deputy CEO of the NIÜ, in relation to the Event Support Programme.
