IMPULSE: how to implement and make your innovation a success?

There is a growing number of innovative young people and businesses in Hungary, but many of them need help to turn their ideas into a successful product or service. The Hungarian Innovation Agency's (NIÜ) IMPULSE programme, which supports Hungarian businesses and start-ups to exploit their innovations with high market potential through group and personal mentoring and knowledge transfer, helps them to do this.

IMPULSE helps Hungarian innovative SMEs and start-ups to further develop their innovation projects and successfully enter the market. Through the call for proposals, the agency does not provide direct funding, but interested parties can apply for free knowledge transfer services. The services provided by eminent national experts will be provided free of charge until the budget of HUF 175 million is exhausted.

The support packages consist of innovation support services worth HUF 5 million gross and HUF 7.5 million gross respectively. The larger service package of HUF 7.5 million is open to applications from more technologically mature projects. The technology readiness level (TRL) of the product or service must be specified on the application form, which includes a brief explanation of the TRL level.

The available packages include mentoring, project development, project management, project quality assurance, innovation and business development consultancy, as well as one-to-one advice and workshops on IP protection, financing and venture capital, technology and innovation ecosystem knowledge.

"The NIÜ draws on a team of hundreds of mentors and experts with many years of experience in innovation services, enabling it to bring in the most appropriate expertise for the industry, development and growth needs of each innovative project, including during the IMPULSE programme. This is a guarantee that the projects will reach the domestic and even international markets as quickly and efficiently as possible", emphasised László Bódis, CEO of NIÜ.

The programme is implemented with the support of the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund, in the framework of the "C" sub-programme of the 2021-1.1.2-AKH Call for Proposals announced by the National Research, Development and Innovation Office.
